After a long time, I thoroughly checked my RSS feed yesterday. I deliberately dedicated the day for study purpose, skimmed through quite a few articles and blogs among which some were really interesting and hence, worth making a note here. Thats what this post is all about.
First I want to begin with a really cool Java script regular expression tester. A really handy tool for learning as well as quickly testing your regular expressions. Then there was this post about software team leaders. It describes the different types of leaders, their characteristics and applicability in certain situations. I liked the way the whole piece was presented.
The next post discusses about project failures, why most IT projects fail - the project management stuffs. Honestly I didn’t find this one much interesting (but some might). What I did like was a post about building effective team. The article was written for hiring people, what to look into a prospective interviewee to ensure you recruit the right people and build the perfect team. For people like me, who are not in a position to hire someone, we can judge ourselves according to the criteria to see whether we fit in the category. Its an enjoyable read anyway.
Now a little bit about technology. This post talks about some advanced topics in CSS. According to the author, the 6 CSS topics that are discussed there are not so easy and straight forward as some other CSS topics but yet very important to know. Well, I also thing CSS is a pretty cool thing and an in depth knowledge on the subject is pretty handy to have, but still don’t feel like reading it (like always, CSS … naah! very bad, I know). Well someone here has posted few links to video lectures of Java script. What I found pretty amusing is, the author has actually noted down the important parts from the video with time and put those in the post.
Just this morning I found a cool tool to convert your swing based legacy desktop application into Ajax based web application! Yes, there is a product called WebCream that supposedly does it. Have a look at the demo, I was amazed to see all the swing components appearing in my browser without requiring any extra plugin. Last but not least, here are some tips on becoming a better blogger.
Hi! Thanks for noticing my post on JavaScript video lectures!
Originally I did not think of writing down time and important parts of videos in the blog. Instead I wanted to write them down on paper as I do with other lectures I watch (physics, maths). As I was watching the lectures and taking notes on paper, I thought, why not just put the notes on the blog, so not only I knew what they were about but everyone else as well
btw, interesting blog!
Sincerely,
Peteris Krumins
I admire the effort you put in there
Thanks for stopping by
